A regular line to a remote island connecting Niigata Port (Niigata-shi, Niigata-ken) and Ryotsu Port on Sado Island (Sado-shi, Niigata-ken) by car ferry in 2 hours and 30 minutes, and by jetfoil in 65 minutes. [Features] Two large car ferries are in operation and accommodate 1,500-1,705 passengers, and 168-290 passenger vehicles. Also a jetfoil accommodates 250 passengers. The large car ferry offers a comfortable journey and have private rooms, observation lounge, store, food court, game room, kids playroom, nursing room, smoking room, pet space, Wi-Fi, and rolling and pitching prevention device on board (observation lounge and kids playroom are only available on Car Ferry Tokiwamaru). The Jet Foil travels in a high-speed at 80km/h by elevating its body from the sea surface. The computer automated control device which is also used for airplanes allows the passengers to enjoy a comfortable ride without pitching and rolling even in the rough sea. Passengers can enjoy the beautiful Sado Island and the mountains of Niigata, and the sunset on evening ferries from the ship. The island's history, culture, nature and cuisine can be fully enjoyed by Sado Kinzan, the historical site of the largest gold and silver mine in Japan with a history of 400 years which is listed as the World Heritage candidate, Noh Theater, the cherished culture of court nobles passed from the Edo period, “toki”, the endangered species, and delicious rice grown in the satoyama and fresh seafood. ・Outdoor: Many activities are available to fully enjoy the nature in sea and mountain such as trekking, sea kayak, diving, fishing and Tarai-bune (tub boat) experience etc. ・Sado Gold Mine: About 50 minutes by car from Ryotsu Port / A historical site of the largest Japanese gold and silver mine which helped finance the Tokugawa Shogunate.
